English Artist who paints/draws(?) Factories?

Hi!

Does anybody know the name, or some work of an english artist, who works in dark colour. And whose work is of streets, factories etc.

Sorry there isn't much detail...

Thanks!English Artist who paints/draws(?) Factories?
Could it be L.S. Lowry?

He is famous for his paintings of the Industrial North, factories and street scenes and urban landscapes...and of course his ';matchstick'; style figures.

Much of his works were in muted greys, browns and blues , i dont know is this is the dark you refer to?

;-)

Found your question on a thread for watercolors. Is it Joseph Turner, the English artist who brought acclaim to watercolors?

  • How are intricate things like dolls painted in factories?

    Two ways.

    1) By hand. Yes faces and smiles often are painted by hand.

    2) with a mold. Spray painted by hand or machine covering the parts that are left open.

Usually it is the combination of the two.

Painting a car a different factory color? HELP?

Hi I was wondering if Honda does factory paintjobs? because im purchasing a 2000 EX fully converted into an SI the only thing not really there is the paint. I wanted the Electron blue paint for the 1999-2000 Honda civic si's, and i was wondering if i can get it painted that color anywhere?I don't just want a different blue, i wanted the exclusive electron blue for the SI's(ya im picky when it comes to cars), if anyone knows could you tell me where and how much it would cost?

Thanks in Advance!Painting a car a different factory color? HELP?
Extex is pretty correct...color change paint jobs can be done by a good quality shop but usually run around 3-4000.00 because of all the work involved painting any areas that are visible like door jambs and sill, trunk opening, cowl, underhood, etc... The factory color code for the SI model can be found in their paint charts or from a local auto paint supply company.

Autobodyonline.com is a good source for the auto body repair trade info and they have a shop locator service for member shops. Get estimates from several shops and if they guarantee their work....just make sure you specifiy you want the factory color blue.Painting a car a different factory color? HELP?
It definately can be done but it's going to cost you if you want a real nice job, and you sound like your picky so you can figure in the $5,000 to $6,000 range.
Color chances are expensive. To do it right...they have to paint the door jams....door edges...under hood...under trunk....all those spots that are hidden when something it closed...otherwise it looks like crap if you see the other color.

It's easy to get the factory code for that color...so almost any auto paint shop can get that color and paint your car. Just get ready to pay out the Wazoo to have it done right.

ISO artist that painted on porciline possibly in the 1800's, France. This porciline factory is the B&C ...

Montereau. It is either transferwear, earthwear or queenswear. Painted is a small red roofed house with a thathched roof barn. Next to the house is an aquaduck with water flowing. Additionally there are several trees in the background. On the roof of the house is the letter 'C' painted at a tilt. It is framed in a 'tilt top table'. It looks like a tilt top frame table during the Louis XV or XVI period. The porciline is framed from the back to show thru the top of the table. The table has a small brass piece on the back engraved with VF Paris and a set of interlocking keys. On my 1961 ford thunderbird the #481 was painted on the pasenger side iner fender is this factory and if so y?

That is not factory, but depending on how it got there it might be something important. The car could have been built as a special order for Ford internal testing or use,or maybe as a race car that never was or ';celebrity'; car.Or it might mean absolutely nothing and was put on there by some owner. But I wouldn't modify the car or take the number off until I found out for sure. That car could be very special and very valuable. And anything you do could hurt that value.I would contact the Thunderbird Club of America and ask them for advice and help in finding out if the number means anything at all.

  • How much would it cost to get my car painted just as if it came from the factory?

all depends on where you take it and what kind of quality you want, can be as cheap as 300 dollars but the quality wont be all that great, on up to 3-4 thousand. ive worked at dealerships for a while and i can say that im a tad bias, use there body shop, it will be the most expensive but you really do get what you pay for. and who knows it might not set you back that much. How much would it cost to get my car painted just as if it came from the factory?
How old is your car.. if its to old thats a lacquer paint, and thats super hard to do and hard to find and is going to cost you a good deal of cash, with the new clear coat process, it shouldn't be over a 1,000, depending on how in dept you want them to go.How much would it cost to get my car painted just as if it came from the factory?
Good quality paintjob, same color privately about 2000, shop about 4000.
for Professional results, you need to go where they bake, it will cost 350 for mini, 450 for family and 700 for stretch limo
the first answer was pretty close on this one,if you want it to look show room new around 3-4 grand to get quality job, good luck.

How much does it cost to professionally paint a car OR change the outside to a different factory color?

I found a REALLY good deal on a car BUT I hate the outside color.

I would like to change it to another color but I heard that paint chips away overtime and it won't look as real as the factory issued color.

So i was wondering how much a professional looking paint that'll make it look like it's brand new from the factory cost.

Also, IF possible how much would it be to just swap the outside? Like take out all the old color and replace it with a factory version of the color that I like. So instead of painting over a color I'm just replacing it with another color of the same part if you know what I meanHow much does it cost to professionally paint a car OR change the outside to a different factory color?
Paint over paint is not a good idea...It will chip and peel in just a couple of years....To get a good job you have to pay the painter at least 2000.00..You can pay as much as 20 to 30 grand for the premium job....I paid a guy 12 grand to paint my plymouth muscle car..How much does it cost to professionally paint a car OR change the outside to a different factory color?
you need to consider the labour cost with the paint and clear coat, and if you want the 3M protection as well, could cost 2500- 3000 dollars, cpuld cost much much more, not the answer you looking for i know but its close to the right cost, good luck, what kind of car did you find any way?
It's not cheap by anyone's standard to paint a car. However, if done properly and by properly I mean using the right grit sand paper and the right stage of the job. It can be done with a very nice finish, professional? I doubt it, but it will look perfectly acceptable to do a ';paint over';. I can't say how much exactly but I do know if your looking for a nice finish without a huge bill. ASK FOR A ';SINGLE STAGE'; PAINT. They are perfectly acceptable but there's not a huge selection of color. If I was you I would go out and buy a gallon of ';single stage'; paint and take it to the body shop with me and say, ';look here, I got my paint what do you charge for labor.'; You can paint a car in no time. You may be able to have it done for $800 give or take a little and replacing the parts would be a royal pain in your back side!!! Oh and a gallon should be all you need considering a 2:1 ratio. One gallon may actually make 2! Oh and if it's already got paint on it there's shouldn't be any reason to need a primer unless the paint wont cover and even then primer is just as cheap. You CAN paint your car without breaking the bank! Seriously! These other jokers obviously haven't had any schooling!

Will an aftermarket paint job last as long as an original factory finish?

My 2007 Honda Pilot that I purchased brand new and have owned for less than 2 years is developing rust all over the vehicle. Honda has tried to clay bar the rust out but it returned the very next day. Now Honda wants to sand and repaint the entire vehicle. I am not comfortable with this and since I paid for a factory finish- that's what I want on my brand new car. How does an aftermarket finish compete with a factory finish? Will the cars value diminish considering it had been entirely repainted??Will an aftermarket paint job last as long as an original factory finish?
A factory paint job is usually somewhat better unless the shop does exceptional work....tape lines can be seen unless moldings and trim are removed and/or replaced....factory robots spray a more precise amount but a competent painter will do a good job abd not be noticeable to the average person. I usually recommend that any measures that can be done are the best to retain the factory finish.

What kind of ';rust'; problem are you having? Rail dust? brake dust? Those can be tricky to get out entirely...oxalic acid (wood bleach)works in some cases better than clay bar method. Is the rust reoccurring around wheel wells...side panels? Do you live or work next to rail yards or tracks? Will an aftermarket paint job last as long as an original factory finish?
I'm a professional painter.Reading this surprises me because it doesn't seem possible that the factory paint could be doing this.I would guess that some sort of iron deposits are getting on the finish and quickly rusting. However,it's only a guess.Whatever the case may be,I wouldn't jump in to repainting it until I was certain of the cause. The new paint may suffer the same fate as the old one.As far as your question about the quality of a repaint,it's as good as the people who do it.A Honda dealer should be top notch in that respect and give you a lasting and undetectable paint job.
some times they do depending if you have who ever paint the car and it all depends on how they mix the paint and additives to it and the right amount of all the add ons that it takes along with the temp.and most of all how yo take care of the finish your self and the right wax that you use to care for your car and its shine

I need an average price range for vehicle full-body paint jobs. with no change in factory color.?

Still depends a little on the color your car is (red paint cost way more then black or white), size of the vehicle, if bumpers, lights, door handles, side moldings ext, will be removed or just masked over. I would say as low as $2000 and could go as high as $5000. Also depends on the shop, some are very fussy and others not so much. If you care about your car don't go with the cheapest and ask around town a bit to see if anyone can guild you to a good shop. You should mention the kind of car and exactly how it will be painted and also even your location will help pin point a more exact price range. Also most body shops offer free estimates so the best would be to go and get a few, make sure they are in writing and read the fine print, not that they will add for removing moldings and stuff over and above the estimate price, make sure you are very specific about how you want it done. Good luck!I need an average price range for vehicle full-body paint jobs. with no change in factory color.?
you can get a real nice paint job done on an average car for about 1500 bucks right now ,and that's using real good paint on it also, beware some shops that price one out real cheap they may be going to use a cheaper paint on it and it wont last too long,if you going to keep it make sure they use a real good paint on it other wise you,ll be wasting your money on a paint job that wont last long, good luck

Well, try a junkyard for some new parts. Was there any warning on the Glade package?

Maybe write them a ';nice'; letter explaining what happened. They like consumer feedback. (Johnson and Johnson makes Glade). They may send you something free for advising them of the potential problem.

Don't threaten to sue or anything negative, be positive about it. Until somebody dies or is injured, don't expect a new car.

How do you install Gregs Factory Outlet 2 for Paint Shop Pro?

Everytime i add this to my Plug Ins for Paint Shop Pro, it says that the filters havent installed correctly, im not for sure if i am doing something wrong, or if i need something else to go along with it, HELP!How do you install Gregs Factory Outlet 2 for Paint Shop Pro?
I went exploring and some tutorials that use this plugin are from 2001. The plugin may be too old and incompatible with either your computer's operating system or with the version of PSP you're using. The plugin looked very useful, too.

I installed this plugin. I'm using PSP X2 on Vista. Some of the effects work and some don't. Edge Effects just crashed PSP. I think you'll have to reinstall and then try each one to determine which ones will work and which ones won't. I've found that a number of older (and really good) Filter Factory plugins have trouble working with the new programs and operating systems. It's sad that nobody's updating them because there's nothing new to take their place.

http://www.maaco.com I've had two cars painted there and was satisfied with the results after 8 years of service on the cars. However, it's a franchised business, so you need to ask some people how your local Maaco is doing.Where to get a car painted that looks factory for cheap?
If you care for your car, do not take it to any of the so-called 1-Day paint job places, including Maaco. I would recommend that you go to a reputable auto body shop for an estimate. You may find that you don't need to paint the whole car, but only certain panels, while the other panels would need to be polished.

If you don't care for your car and don't care about the quality of the paint, than the 1-Day paint places are for you.
No easy answer to this one i suggest you shop around specially little back street garages their overheads are not as big as the mainline garages, but beware try and see some of his previous spray jobs a lot of garages keep a photo album of previous work that they are proud of.

  • Is it possible to get a factory-quality aftermarket paint job?

My wife's black near-new Nissan Maxima shows SO many surface scratches. I've noticed that most Nissan cars have this problem, but not so much on some of the higher end cars (BMW, Infinity, etc...). Would it be possible to have a repaint done in a high quality metallic black paint, which would match the endurance of a factory paint job? If so, any ideas on what the cost might be?Is it possible to get a factory-quality aftermarket paint job?
Hi JC! I hope you have come here for the straight scoop. Here it is. The problem you are experiencing has NOTHING to do with the quality of the paint on your Nissan. The problem has EVERYTHING to do with the quality of maintaince that has been performed on the paint. All colors will display the scratches you describe. With dark colors, especially black, the scratches ';show'; better.

If you are the person responsible for paint maintaince, STOP! Get rid of all the sponges, rags, wash mits or what ever you have been using.

Purchace new, high quality wash mits (several). Use a soap designed for the washing of cars, no dish detergent! Purchase a filtering system for the application of water. Mr. Clean makes a good one. Impurities in water can scratch and leave deposits on the paint.Buy a squeege or towels made for the drying of cars, quality towels.

Once you are properly equipped, there are several key procedures you must follow. Make sure your cars surface is COOL.With water from your filtering system, rinse and rinse again. You will want to get as much of the road grit off the surface before you do any application of soap. start at the cleanest panel of your car, the roof. Procede one panel at a time working from top to bottom( use a fresh mit for the lower, dirter parts.) Rinse and rinse again. Start the drying process at the roof and work your way down....You are working in the shade, right? This procedure needs to be performed every week that the car is driven. You should plan on a two hour part of your day.

If this sounds like something you are not interested in, I would recomend that you find a good auto detail shop in your area to do the job for you. You are going to need to take your Nissan to that good detail shop to have them polish your cars scratches out. Don't worry ,there is plenty of paint on your car to allow polishing without comprimising the thickness of the protective paint film.

A nice polish and detail job should run $200-$300.

    Paint maintaince suppies, about $100.

    A ';factory'; quality re-paint, minimun $3000.

In the future, you may want to consider a white or silver color for your car.

If you really believe your problem is with the ';quality'; of your paint job, why have you not taken the car to your dealer and have the paint redone under warranty? Is it possible to get a factory-quality aftermarket paint job?
Yes, just expect to pay for it. Not as much as factory but a decent price. The paint can cost. A good body shop can do the job. Don't take it to one of those places like Earl Shieb. Collision repair places do a better job. The paint has to be baked on but some places don't do it or don't bake it for the time required and they don't prep the paint before clear-coating so it peels and bubbles a lot sooner. Specify factory paint no after-market brands.
car painting has been possible for like 100 yrs good as the painter is.. so whats the problem is how one washes and the color black is the worse in showing scratches which most offen comes from person who is washing it.. just about any paint shop could fix it really id look in phone book or just ask a round town you see a car with a good paint job you ask them where they had it done
you notice surface problems on your car because you use poors products and dont wash your car properly

people who has bmw pay high money for wash their cars because they can afford it

any good paint shop can do this job if you pay for it, expect to pay over 3500 for a complete, good quality paint job and when you do so read products instructions before try to wash your car by yourself
I wonder this too. I have a 2003 Ford ZX2 and the paint is peeling off already. The clear coat has bubbled and the paint on the front is chipped. I want it repainted but I want a strong durable pain job that is shiny and lasts the rest of my cars life.

Are Sherwin-Williams paint factories union faculties?

Does mercedes auto body parts come already factory painted?

or do they paint every part at the dealership? specifically front bumper on a 2009 mercedes c300Does mercedes auto body parts come already factory painted?
No. They would not match if they were painted at the factory. Paint changes from the first time the sun hits it. Good paint shops have a paint reader that can duplicate the current color of the paint making an exact match.Does mercedes auto body parts come already factory painted?
There are some body parts stores that send you the part pre-painted. They use color codes. They don't always match considering some cars color fade over time. Some body shops buffed the old painted panels to make them match the new painted panels.

When paint fades it consider to be dirty. So by buffing the old painted surfaces, they remove the dirt making it look new. All dealers and paint shops use color codes. So when looking for a part for your car, you may want to consider a body part supplier that will paint that part using color codes. If you look inside the driver store, you will see the color code for you car.
If you're buying a replacement bumber, it is not painted. The dealer can sublet it to a collision shop and have it painted it for you (at an additional charge) or you can get it painted yourself.
they do not come painted but they are primed

Do cars that are painted white carry factory defects?

A friend of mine told me that cars are painted white that carry factory defects to the body. He said that almost all white cars were damaged in the production process. He explained that white paint has the ability to hide blemishes that under other color paints would be noticeable. Is this true, or is he full of ****?Do cars that are painted white carry factory defects?
your friend is full of it!, when they paint cars on the assembly line they paint one color for about 20 cars in a row and then the automatic sprayers clean out the white color and start spraying the next color for about 20 cars and this just continues all day long, it's a way of saving paint as the guns don't have to clean themselves out every vehicle to start another color.

36 yrs, at GM.Do cars that are painted white carry factory defects?
If this ever was true, it no longer is. Cars have to meet regulations and requirements before they roll out of the factory and to the dealer. Plus, there are X number of cars set to be painted in Y color before they roll off the line. Factories don't just change how many cars are going to be white based on how messed up they got in the factory. To inspect these cars, change the color they are to be painted, and then unfudge the numbers would be illegal, too much work, and impractical.
Painting the car is one of the 1st things done to hard to go back and change it!

My Calumet 4x5'; camera is a dreary factory gray. I would like to paint it pink. Type of paint do you recommend?

I would think rubberized body paint would work well ... less chance of cracking maybe. Call Calumet and see what they say.

Yup, Pink is the new Black and gray is almost black ...My Calumet 4x5'; camera is a dreary factory gray. I would like to paint it pink. Type of paint do you recommend?
Go to a really good paint store with the camera. Find an experienced sales person, and tell him/her what you want to do.

Calumets are often wooden frames, but there were also metal. The parts you want to paint will determine if you need an undercoater, and the number of coats of finish paint. Decide what finish will be best, gloss, semi-gloss, etc. You may have to sand between coats. The process will be similar to painting other objects of like materiel. You can get just about any color you want. Use masking tape to make sure you don't get paint where you don't want it.

Don't paint the bellows. It has to remain flexible and the paint could damage it.My Calumet 4x5'; camera is a dreary factory gray. I would like to paint it pink. Type of paint do you recommend?

Yes. I think that's all there is to say about the subject.
It's pretty unlikely your 20 -year-old SL is wearing its original paint, however, if it is, yes, it's clear over base. The number of coats will depend on if it is Euro spec or North American Spec and if the finish if BASF or Du Pont, this also depends on point of export, etc. A body shop can tell you what your current finish is.
Should be,they use 8 coats clearcoat as opposed to one coat on US/Mexico made cars.
it would for sure be base coat clear from the factory. the question is has it been wrecked and repainted or has some of it been repainted. example. if someone brings in a Benz to the shop and it is white i will use single stage black the same way. some reds also.

Non-factory color paint affects the value of a car?

I'm looking at a 1969 GTO I might buy - complete, numbers matching, all original (and I mean EVERYTHING original). It's currently primered, and I needs a paint job. However, the original paint color is this god awful butternut/brownish/yellowish eww vomit color. Instead of painting it that color, what if I paint it a FACTORY color that looks attractive? like, black? Like I said FACTORY black. Will it damage the car's value, or will it raise it because it looks so much better (more desirable...)

Seriously, I like originality, but to a point. Why must I suffer, invest thousands of dollars, pain, and elbow grease into restoring a car into original condition, which looks so ugly? Why must I suffer because of the original owners idiotic decision back in '69 when he walked into a pontiac dealership to buy a GTO, and he thought to himself ';hmmm....there's black, red, orange, blue,.....nah, I think I'll pick butternut squash vomit color YEAA.'; That makes no sense!

Am I the one who is ruining the car by painting a proper factory black, or is the orginal owner the one who ruined the car in the first place by picking the worst color combinations? So basically I'm asking how my factory black paint job will affect the value. All help would be appreciated.Non-factory color paint affects the value of a car?
if your going to sell it anyway, let the buyer decide... if your keeping it, paint it your color and be happy, it probably won't make any difference anyway when it comes time to sell it... specially with that color..Non-factory color paint affects the value of a car?
I was told this by a body shop. But I'm not sure because they said that if I didn't use Infiniti paint that it would take $3000-$4000 off of the value. Maybe they were just trying to get me to buy the higher paint. Because when I sold the car I actually got over blue book value. But on trades I would say it will lessen the value. I hope this helps.
If you are buying the car to drive and enjoy- paint it whaever color you want. If you are looking for an investment and purity

go with the factory yuck color.

I would paint it a nice vibrant red metallic ( if it had black interior )
Going with the orig. is what you should do. The color code is in your vin. number and will up the value of the car
NICE! I've just got to say, I've got the new GTO-BLACK on BLACK 06 but the old school rules! I am going through the same dilema with my 1968 Fastback Impala. I don't think you'll greatly affect the price on that GTO by going the route you want to go. I def wouldn't want to repaint it the factory color. Do what makes YOU happy and if someone wants to turn down an all original GTO less the paint, then they don't know what they've got to begin with. Paint can EASILY be changed back to original. I say roll with Black or whatever option you choose and make yourself happy. Like I said, it only will SLIGHTLY affect price since it's an easily reversible decision. Good luck!

With all the toy recalls from China due to lead paint, don't you think its time we move the factory back to,,,

the USA and give Americans jobs who will make quality toys that won't kill our children? At least we have regulations here. With all the toy recalls from China due to lead paint, don't you think its time we move the factory back to,,,
I don't think that they'll ever move the factories back to the US, only because they can mass produce for less in forgein countries and the pay to the employees is cheaper so it saves the companies more money. With all the toy recalls from China due to lead paint, don't you think its time we move the factory back to,,,
They will never move the factories back to the United States. Why you might ask? Companies get cheaper labor when they have factories in other countries. Then, they get to make the same products cheaper, then they get to mark them up higher and make more money, it's all about the bottom line. By the way, there have been just as many made in the U.S.A. recalls as there have been made in China recalls. The fact of the matter is we are making things too quickly, in too high of quantities, with no quality control anymore.
the Toy Companies love china. They literally love building toys there. They are trying their best to blow this issue over, and get people to stop thinking about it.

There is NOTHING that will bring the factories back, and nothing will stop more factories from going to china. Even if they found an ounce of pure lead in every lip stick or childs toy. Too greedy to care.

They are making more profits in chinese slave labor than they'd lose in law suits. They've already made this calculation, and to them , it's worth it.

The middle and lower classes of adults are losing their jobs, and their kids are getting lead poisoning. I think this is planned. There's not a better way to demoralize, dehumanize, and destroy two generations of people, than to throw them out of jobs by the 10s of millions, and then poison their offspring with lead.

How do I refinish solid wood kitchen cabinets that have a factory white painted finish?

I have white kitchen cabinets that have started to chip and are getting scratched up, I would like to refinish cabinets that need it and not the ones that don't. Is this feesible and how do you go about matching that factory paint job? Can you just sand a small area and paint it insted of the whole cabinet? Please Help....I'm sick of looking at ratty cabinets!!How do I refinish solid wood kitchen cabinets that have a factory white painted finish?
First make sure it's paint, not a thin laminate. If it's a laminate you can use a sharpened putty knife to scrape it off. If it is paint, get a paint remover solution and follow the instructions. Paint removing solution is ideal since it makes taking off paint off non flat trim and crevices. The paint will blister and get gooey. Scape it off with putty knife. Make sure you clean off the paint remover very thoroughly. VERY IMPORTANT. Let it dry thoroughly, then use a fine grit sandpaper to smooth the wood. Use a tack sheet to remove all fine wood dust. Then finally you can apply the finish of your choice. How do I refinish solid wood kitchen cabinets that have a factory white painted finish?
It seems to me like you could do this easily. If you're really worried about the type of paint, you could always find the manufacturer of the cabinets and ask what paint was used and even if they could supply you with some. If not, get a couple paint samples from a hardware store and do a test area. It could even be on the inside of the cabinet so that you don't see it if the color doesn't match. Then just do your touch ups. It may not look as good as if you repainted it all, but it will come pretty close.
It is very difficult to match new paint to old as the old paint has oxidized with time and grease build up.

The best solution is to sand the old paint to get the grease and dirt off and to roughen the surface so new paint will adhere good. Get an orbital sander that you can attach your vacuum cleaner to to keep the dust down. Sand all the cabinets and refinish with two coats of paint.

    See our web site http://www.ourhomeimprovement.net/remode鈥?/a>
get some sand paper that is made to remove the finish. You can acquire this at any hardware store Lowes, Home Depot etc. then refinish the cabanits after all the previous finish is removed.

I am PG and got exposed to factory paint fumes... FREAKING OUT!!!?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and recently I got exposed to toxic fumes... I had to tour a factory which included walking inside of a manufacturing facility... First it smelled like ammonia and then paint and paint thinners. Stuff was getting painted right before my eyes!! I asked to get me out of there ASAP but still got stuck inside for solid 10 minutes!!! (had to walk by that mess) I am still SO ANGRY at this situation... I did not get a head ache or got ill but now I am worried sick.... does my baby have any chances to stay healthy after this? :(I am PG and got exposed to factory paint fumes... FREAKING OUT!!!?
A half hour exposure isn't going to have any effect on you or baby. These things may have been offensive to your nose but they probably were not Toxic, as defined by the EPA, and for the short term exposure you describe your body would be able to process all the pollutants. If you wanted to make sure, get some quality Vit E. (Dr. Weil has good ones, it gives you a mix)

If this is a routine part of your job, you should consider getting a half-face respirator (that uses screw in filters) and get carbon filters. They will clean the air nicely before you breath it.

What you saw was how the products you use are made. There is no ';free lunch;'; certain products need to be made like that. If you think it was bad here, imagine what it is like in China, India, S. Korea, where there are little or no environmental laws.I am PG and got exposed to factory paint fumes... FREAKING OUT!!!?

    Clear coat over factory paint?

I have a 31year old motorcycle. The paint is still in pretty good shape as are the factory decals. I was wondering if I could touch up the small nicks and scratches, sand it with some 1600 wet and dry and shoot it with a couple coats of new clear coat. Seems to me that this would freshen the old girl up. Would this work or am I missing something?Clear coat over factory paint?
If your bike is that old, it may have not had clear originally but in any case putting clear over it now should make it look a little sharper. You were right in sanding before painting and be careful not to sand too hard.Clear coat over factory paint?
    Try buffing it first.

New paint vs waxing glossing factory paint on a car?

I have a 95 Buick and it has a decent factory paint with some rock chips. I was thinking about getting a custom paint job from Maaco done for $1,600. However, since the paint is already pretty decent, I'm thinking about saving money and just getting the car glossed up and waxed, etc. Will that be a better decision and how much does it usually cost? Will the gloss make the paint shine like new again? I have $2,200. If I can get it done for around $500, I can spend the rest on some 22'; rims w/ tires. Or I can just get 17'; chrome for $600 and do a custom paint job for about $1,600. Custom paint job with 17'; rims vs 22'; chrome with glossed up factory paint... what y'all think?New paint vs waxing glossing factory paint on a car?
try the buffing and waxing first. if maaco is charging you that much you ar egetting ripped . you can go to a QUALITY real shop and get a paint job you will be happier with for that or less sometimes. maaco is not a quality job. they are good for what they do but not 1600 good.New paint vs waxing glossing factory paint on a car?
It aint worth it,,Mothers makes the best wax.try hand buffing it then wax she'll look good.

How does factory paint job compare to aftermarket paint job?

My 2007 Honda Pilot that I purchased brand new and have owned for less than 2 years is developing rust all over the vehicle. Honda has tried to clay bar the rust out but it returned the very next day. Now Honda wants to sand and repaint the entire vehicle. I am not comfortable with this and since I paid for a factory finish- that's what I want on my brand new car. How does an aftermarket finish compete with a factory finish? Will the cars value diminish considering it had been entirely repainted??How does factory paint job compare to aftermarket paint job?
The value will not diminish if it is re-painted at the same color using good material in a car oven.Ask for warranty about rust coming back.

After painting ask when one could wax the vehicle.

What is the best way to remove baked on brake dust from painted factory alloy wheels?

What is the best way to remove baked on brake dust from painted factory alloy wheels? I am talking about baked brown brake dust. I have used EAGLE ONE wheel cleaner and scrubbed it with a brush, which helped but there has to be something better that will remove it yet not affect the wheels finish.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. What is the best way to remove baked on brake dust from painted factory alloy wheels?
Brake cleaner, usually used during servicing on brakes to clean all the solid dust of the bits and pieces in there, should work but just test it on an inconspicuous area or the rim to check for any discoloration, it should be fine thoughWhat is the best way to remove baked on brake dust from painted factory alloy wheels?

  • Remove factory paint?

i have some small shocks springs that are painted black from the factory. i want to remove the paint so that they show up silver metal. should i soak the small springs in paint thinner to remove the paint? will i have to scrub also?Remove factory paint?
Don't know about paint thinner, but there are some stronger chemicals out there. You're definitely going to have to sand it by hand too since it's going to be a little too tight to get a sander in between the coils. You'll also need to seal or re-paint your springs. I see what you're going for, but if they're left unprotected, they'll get useless pretty quick. I think they sell a clear-coat spray paint...maybe it's Duplicolor.Remove factory paint?
I would first use some spray paint stripper, then clean and dry your coils prior to repaint. Do not leave the springs unpainted since they will soon rust.

How do i get a factory sticker off of the tank of a motorcycle fast and without damaging the paint?

I have tried ';Goo Be Gone'; but it takes FOREVER...How do i get a factory sticker off of the tank of a motorcycle fast and without damaging the paint?
Heat it with a hair dryer. Goo gone will take off any residual glue. How do i get a factory sticker off of the tank of a motorcycle fast and without damaging the paint?
Warm the sticker with a hair dryer (NOT a heat gun!) and it should just peel right off. Use your goo be gone to remove any residual adhesive.
    rubbing alcohol, or baby oil...
';Goof-Off'; is great, easy to use, available even in drugstores.

Lacquer thinner works- it evaporates fast w/o affecting factory paint.

Rubber cement thinner (art supplies) is ideal, but hard to find, now that studios have gone digital.

Start at the top of sticker, (OK to let sticker get soaked as you go) start peeling and work down, keeping separation line wet. Don't use a metal edged knife to get started; too easy to damage paint. Technique works on some decals, as well.
3M makes a sticker remover that works pretty well. Most any automotive type store should stock it. Besides that heat gun and WD40 will work just take your time.
DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL ON PAINTED TINS...
    Hiya

Try the hairdrier and then to get the glue off try duraglit its like a woding it will come off in no time

    hope this helps John
hair dryer on low setting, and rub the sticker back. a light amount of goo gone should take care of the left over adhesive residue.

I have sheet rock that came from the factory with paper on it and paint will not stick to it what can i do?

When i paint the paint just peels off in sheets. or if i put something up against it if peels off on whatever was there.I have sheet rock that came from the factory with paper on it and paint will not stick to it what can i do?
What kind of paper are you talking about? I've installed a lot of drywall, and have never seen anything on it besides the standard face paper. It seems that you may have a problem with the paint. Did you prime first? Are you using latex or oil? Feel free to e-mail me if you like, and I will try to help. Good luck.I have sheet rock that came from the factory with paper on it and paint will not stick to it what can i do?
I've never had a problem like that, and the paper is necessary to hold the drywall (sheet rock) together, so you can't remove that. You might have a problem with your paint, but no matter what, you need to use a primer first. That will create a better bond between the drywall and the final paint, and help hide any imperfections.
Did you buy normal sheetrock or special sheetrock for under tile or ?????? Did you get the proper side of the sheetrock to the room side? There is a proper side to put on the room side (the side with the flanges for the tape and mud). The back side might not take paint well.

Is the house you are working on heated? If the paint freezes before it dries, it will come off.

Forget all those telling you that you need to prime first, I built my house and rather than prime, I used the same color paint as a first and second coat. The paint was the same price as the primer and if I missed a spot the second time over, it was already the right color. Paint is a different color wet, so there isn't any problem seeing where you have been with the first coat. Good luck.
I have never heard of sheet rock doing that. Did you wipe it down to make sure all of the dust is off of it before you painted it? It could also be your paint. There is some paints out there that are junk. You could try a different brand of paint.
Did you use some kind of silicone caulking on it or something?

Paint won't adhere to some sealers and caulking.

It'll ';puddle'; and peel off when it dries.
put a high quality primer on it and use a quality latex paint.
All sheet rock has paper on it. Use a primer, that's what it's for.

Will an aftermarket part for my car hold a new paint job as well as a factory part would?

The body shop I am using is one of the best I know of.Will an aftermarket part for my car hold a new paint job as well as a factory part would?
I use both OEM and Taiwan copies quite often There is usually no difference in the coatings used, the painter doesn't need to do anything unusual to give you a lasting repair. Will an aftermarket part for my car hold a new paint job as well as a factory part would?
The normal issue with repainting a car is matching the paint color. Regardless of the age of the car they all fade differently. A good body shop will know how to match the paint.
If it's prepped properly then I would say that it will hold up.

Explain the working of an oven system in the paint shop of a car factory?

Its actually an infra red enameling oven! The newly painted parts are carried through the oven on an overhead trolley system and baked for up to 4 minutes at the proper tempurature (some cars are aluminum and some are steel or other alloys so the temperatures can be very different). Then all of the parts are carried to the curing area for up to 12 hours then the parts are sent to the assembly line.Explain the working of an oven system in the paint shop of a car factory?
Basically i am a designer of such system. these oven of the modern car plants are equipped with Infrared (IR) lamps that emmit infrared rays that peneratate into the layer of paint and cure them.. its not paint drying , but paint curing.

    Where to buy factory paint?

I wanted to know if you guys know where is a good place to get factory matched paint? Preferably in an aerosol can. my paint code WA9658. i saw a couple good websites, but they don't ship aerosol to Canada. I'm going to be doing some rust repairs when it get warmer.Where to buy factory paint?
Take an old paint chip and take it to canadian tire store. compare the old paint to';near match'; paint spray can. Or you can go to any body shop to get the original paint mixed for you but you need a spray gun and an air compressor. With the near match paint, you can't really tell the difference unless you look at it closely.Where to buy factory paint?
How old is the car? If its older then a couple years the original code is useless because the paint fades over time so you have to match the paint as it is now.
Your best bet is to take a small paint chip from the car into a dealership to have it analyzed. They should be able to order the paint for you. Hope that this helps. Good luck.

How much would it cost to get a black factory-painted car painted in metallic black?

I'm looking at buying a Honda Prelude '92 in black. The paint is a factory standard colour. I was wondering how much it would cost for me to get it painted METALLIC black? I'm looking for a good job - worried more about quality than cost. Thanks! How much would it cost to get a black factory-painted car painted in metallic black?
Well thats a great color, first there is the fast way that most companies will charge. They just scuff the current paint and paint over it.

Your paint job is created by using a black and adding metallic chips to it during the stirring process.

If you want a good job companies will charge $2500.

Or you can go to sears buy an orbital sander, sand it with 240 grit, once you get the old paint off, use a 350+ make it as smooth as possible, try not to remove the primer. Take it into a paint shop, and you'll be looking around $440 per gallon.

Your car will use 2.1/4 gallons for a good double coat. They could do it for 940.00 or around there.

Then make sure you get it wet sanded!!!! This makes it absolutley AWESOME %26lt;- write that down, WET SANDED

Make sure you get a paint, then clear coat finish

Don't get no paint and clear coat mix!

Its always better if you take your car apart yourself and make sure that nobody paints over your windows and mirrors. But a good shop will accomplish a good tape job. But tape is just tape, the more you remove before it goes in, the better it will really look.

The paint code should be in the door jam, glove box, under hood or where the spare tire is as for finding the paint code for that blue you can check with your local automotive paint store .but from the pic it looks like paint code XX . But i must warn you that painting your car all over will devalue it also you have got to do the door jams and under the hood and trunk to make it look rite other wise it will look like crap. I also would use a good quality paint like PPG or Standox Basecoat clearcoatI want to paint my car a different factory color besides the one i have, how do i find the code?

My Calumet 4x5'; camera is a dreary factory gray. Need to paint it pink. What type of paint do you recommend?

You can get spray enamel in pink, it comes in spray cans, and I think the Calumet would look great in a hammertone finish, it's sort of glittery, and is less likely to scrape off with use.

Of course you would need to take the camera apart, or mask off some chrome knobs etc.

Good fun!My Calumet 4x5'; camera is a dreary factory gray. Need to paint it pink. What type of paint do you recommend?
I would probably say an acrylic. I don't know a lot about paints.

But you should definitely add some sparkles to the paint. Make it more purty.

I took mine off with a hair dryer. not too much heat, just enough to get the decal off. then I used goof off and a 100% cotton rag to gently wipe off the glue. It takes time, but you dont want to scratch the surface.

use a handheld hairdryer to heat and soften the adhesive on the sticker and slowly pull it off.

    http://www.refinishnetwork.com/blog/how-鈥?/a>

You can maybe save a bit of money going with a singlestage, it won't be as good as base / clear but will help a bit with material costs. (I'd personally go base/clear)How much would it cost to get a factory paint job done?
Well, it all depends on how much quality, what kind of paint job, how big the paint job is, and a few other things. If you wanted a basic paint job for half the car, i'd say about $500-$1000. If you wanted a custom full body paint job, it'd probably top out at round $3000. Probably bout $750, for a good paint job. I like the color black, but it is harder to maintain then white. No matter what you buy, make sure you have a reliable painter or he might mess up your car.
i have never seen this type of thing get done the right way//that truck is painted with nothing attached/just a bunch of metal going down the line/when you try to redo its always a fiasco/close but never there//if you are going to take that truck all apart /everything off and on the ground/glass/upholstery/wiring/parts and pieces and supports off/MAYBE it might get close and thats to say the guy painting can really paint and redo with clear coat etc//
White is a much better color.

Easy to keep clean, no waxing required, a lot cooler in the summer.

$2500 for a decent paint job.

$2000 will get you a basic paint job that looks like it came out of the factory, orange peel and all. This is assuming your car needs no bodywork as well. To be honest, 2 large might not cover it. Think at least $3-4K. If you want a show quality finish, no orange peel, completely smooth; double that amount.
No such thing as a great paint job for cheap. Look to pay over $2000 for a really nice paint job.
go to a paint supplier. any online also should work and buy the premium primer, paint, hardener, clear coat and gloss coat. buy the materials to tape off the car also and adhesive promoter so your not sanding the entire car before hand. go to a local paint shop and tell them that you have all the supplies. they will either do it for you for a greatly reduced price or you can go and rent a paint booth and spray it yourself. read up a little on the net about how to paint if thats your decision. i paint all my own cars custom and the most i've paid was for a 14 layer paintjob and it only costed me $1400 this way. you can look to spend about $600-800 for paint and renting a room or having someone else do it for you can cost from $100 to $500. goodluck

What paint should I use to repaint an exterior steel door with a factory finish on it?

Go to home Depot. The have lots of different Exterior paints that will work well on steel. A light sanding and cleaning will help the new paint stick better! What paint should I use to repaint an exterior steel door with a factory finish on it?
Benjamin Moore has a product for exterior doors and siding, called MoorGlo Acrylic House and Trim Paint. It comes in a variety of colors and can be found at Ace Hardware as well as many specialty stores. Be sure to sand and prime the door before painting. What paint should I use to repaint an exterior steel door with a factory finish on it?
Use either ';Krylon'; or ';Rust-Oleum'; ext. enamel. Prep the door per the paint manufacturer instructions prior to painting. A quart should work if you doing the exterior side only.
moor glo is a latex ..do not get that ,your best bet is any of the following...either a sherwin williams or benjamin moore DTM ( direct to metal).paint or Valspars anti rust industrial enamel...I perfer the valspar it applys better and wears better..it is virtually indestructable....painting contractor.

I have a 78 corvette that I need to get painted with factory paint. It had lacquer. Where can I buy paint?

This is not a stab, but if you are asking this kind of question, this endeavor is way over your head. You should be able to get laquer almost anywhere .

Laquer has to be color sanded between coats and buffed out after dry to get that great shine, which means labor intensive compared to enamel. Not to mention if your buffing technique is poor, you can burn through the paint especially on edges or creases.

If you like the vette', let a professional do it. If you don't mind the quality, go for it. It'll be a learning experience.I have a 78 corvette that I need to get painted with factory paint. It had lacquer. Where can I buy paint?
I would leave this job to autobody shop, if you do not have all the equipment which could be in the (thousands)

I have a 78 corvette that I need to get painted with factory paint. It had lacquer. Where can I buy paint?
Lacquer is a fast drying paint that is incredibly thin and brittle. It requires lacquer primers, lacquer sealers, and color sanding. Most Lacquer paint jobs require at least 7 coats of color and two clear --it would be a shame to remove it. Because you can't paint over lacquer , or lacquer sealer and primers with enamels and expect the paint job to last (will fall off in sheets after a few years). i would contact PPG corp. for all the correct supplies for fiberglass and the paint. They may make a epoxy sealer that will adhere to the lacquer so that enamels could be painted over.
    Ask the chevy dealer.
You should check with Chevrolet dealers... they should have it order for you.
There are ';auto body supply stores'; that will carry and mix colors for any paint that you want.

Best to have the work done by a bodyshop. Let them buy the paint too,, for they would get it at a discount. Lacquer is not easy to work with and you need to do it inside a booth.

Costs are always rising, so you can get a rough idea if you ask the body shop supplier, for they have a good idea how much paint your car will need.

It is not only paint either. The reducers cost too. Mine I do in acrylic enamel, and the cost of the reducers and fish eye eliminator cost more than the paint.

And with lacquer, I believe they clear coat it after(additional costs) which you got to figure in.

Shop carefully for a good body shop painter and see some of their work first.

Is there a mechanical / chemical way to remove damaged factory-applied decals without damaging the paint under?

. . . the decals, such as pin stripping, etc. Factory-applied decals tend to be much better adhered than simple stickers. Is there a mechanical / chemical way to remove damaged factory-applied decals without damaging the paint under?

  • Where can I get a good factory like paint job for my car in CT? Please let me know....?

what car do u have? and go to ur dealer they will do it. but might be more than u want to spend

It is 1986 redline bike which was half paint and half chrome there is chrome under the factory paint?

Ty for the new info .

In this case I would try a paint stripper from a hardware store.

This is if acetone did not work.[and acetone should work]

I have seen one frame that was chromed half, then painted. The paint overlapped the chrome.[very shoddy]

Do it in a ventilated area though.

The best in this case would be to sandblast the whole thing, then acid dip it then re paint or chrome it.

But,in my opinion, only a handbuilt frame is worth that.

For example,a one of 12 skullskates custom frame.

If I take my car to a factory and get a paint job will it chip or wear down?

Or will it stay up and won't chip or wear?

and look like new?If I take my car to a factory and get a paint job will it chip or wear down?
yes it will chip and wear etc. the only way to get a durrable quality paint job is to take it to a painter that does higher end paint job. the difference is how well the paint has been prepped and bonds to the surface. if a painter must get the job done in 1 day or so he wont have done a high quality job but when he can remove all the trim mask off things right and do his magic then you reap the rewards. Earl isnt known for car show awards, foose is.If I take my car to a factory and get a paint job will it chip or wear down?
I think you are asking about a factory dealership, if so then they use the same paints that any Body shop does, and it depends on how much they want to have a good rep, small town body shops mostly do better jobs, because they need a good rep to stay in business.

Urethane paint is the strongest paint used by most auto paint and body shops, ask for that type of paint. also if you ask for and want to pay for a very good job. most shops will do it.
look around get refs. of their past clients, and have them put a fwew extra clear coats on your new paint job. this way makes it a lot easier to fix small scratches and chips wont show up as bad cause it is chipping the clear coat not the color. will cost more more for more coats but cheaper in the long run if u are ruff on your cars.
Your car came with a factory paint job. Is it chipped? Is it worn down? Does it look like new? Does the 'factory' that made it even still exist?
Do like Carl says but also several clear coats will help. Not enough is a problem and too many is a problem.
There aren't any factories that will paint a car.
all paint jobs will chip if hit with rocks and paint won't last forever no matter who paints it.
it will look good till you or something or someone chips it again

Why do girls wear so much make up they look like an accident in a paint factory?

because some girls think it makes them look prettier, when in reality, it hides some of their natural bueatyWhy do girls wear so much make up they look like an accident in a paint factory?
some women need to be coached on how to apply their make up. i am one of them and that's why i leave it alone and choose not to wear it.Why do girls wear so much make up they look like an accident in a paint factory?
Some girls are insecure and try to cover things up way too much
girls in general, don't. but some do i guess to try and hide their insecurity about their looks.

leave them alone i guess anyhow!
    lol now i no
oi!! speak for some girls!! not for me!! haha! i don't like to see girls plastered in it as it does not look natural! LESS IS MORE GIRLS!!
Coz some of them think that guys like all the outer beauty and make up. Some of us like the ';natural'; look, and go for personality rather than looks and s3x alone
Some wear so much slap to hide their imperfections. Others wear so much because they dont know how to apply it properly and some girls because they mistakenly think it makes them look better. I think less is more. A lot of young girls wear a lot because they are experimenting and until they really get older and much better at it they dont know what suits them. Perfection in all things takes time and experience.
Hi,well i do not wear make up has i do not like it.
I totally agree man, I think it is because all women are naturaly more attune to emotions because of estrogen. Don't ask me to prove that, but I have seen/experienced real life examples. That makes them naturally insecure., and vulnerable to Madison Ave. advertiving strategy. Insecure women usually buy more cosmetics, clothes, etc.... to make themselves feel better about themselves. I have had women tell me that complete obsession with their own appearance was a completely normal way to be. No wonder most of them are unhappy, and insecure. They need to lear that true beauty lies from within and that they have the power. I think some women are just to stupid or vain to realize that. Men do have a part in this, finding pre-pubesceant anorexic supermodels ';hot';. A bunch of closet pedophiles if you ask me. Give me a full bodied woman over a bony girl anyday. SO many women need to ditch all of that vainglorius crap and be happy with who they are. Not everyone can be beautiful and famous.
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN I SEE THAT ALL OF THE TIME I GUESS THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO APPLY MAKEUP I MYSELF DON'T WEAR ALOT OF MAKEUP I LIKE THE NATURAL WAY I WEAR FOUNDATION AND MASCARA THAT'S ABOUT IT MAYBE A LITTLE BLUSH I PUT IT ON LIGHT NOT HEAVY THAT'S IT I WENT TO GET A MAKEOVER ONE TIME JUST FOR FUN THEY PACKED ME DOWN I LIKED LIKE A CHINA DOLL BUT I FELT LIKE I WAS WEARING 20-LBS OF MAKEUP ON MY FACE I DIDN'T LIKE THE FEELING SO I WASHED IT OFF
The younger the girl (13-15) - the more make up she wears... like the old ladies with bright blue eye shadows... horrible! No taste at all
Well I don't but I know what you are talking about , you see some girls just don't have a clue and lets face it why are you so worried about the girls ? just go out with da ones that don't overdo it, after all beauty is only skin deep.
personally, i only use eyeliner cuz a. guys like the natural look,

    b. it makes ur eyes stand out. besides, all that crap does is robv u of ur beautiful skin tone. and some girls wear that much makeup cuz they ''think'' it looks nice and walk outta the house looking like a mess. i always ask my guyfriends how i look before leaving the house. i never had ''an accident in a piant factory'' day in my life.
    Some girls are hoes

Why did i get a thumbs down for this lol?? I could have said some girls are s1ags!! but i didnt!
    lol

it's true and it's a shame cos half these girl who look like they been in your paint factory incident do look much better without it all plastered on their faces!!
Ooh, looks so tacky and unflattering that over- painted doll look.

Less is definitely more, I think! Just imagine the length of time it takes to get that much slap off when it's been applied with a trowel and an emulsion brush in the first place!
    low self confidence or s!uts
Well, I think some girls see beautiful women in the media with dramatic looks and try to emulate them. Unfortunately, normal girls can't afford a team of make-up artists, designer cosmetics and a strategically applied airbrush, so they don't quite pull it off.

Other girls, of course wear it as a mask so they don't feel so exposed in day to day life which is understandable.

To be fair, although I know Lily Savage is so last season, some women look equally as awful with no make up at all. You have to be naturally pretty with healthy skin to pull that off successfully.

Anyway, who are we to judge? We can't make people up to suit our own personal tastes so if a woman is comfortable in her own skin and feels good, she's pretty much sorted and probably doesn't care much about what others think of her taste in make up....
because you would complain if we didn't!

thats funny though paint factory hahaha
because they feel insecure with out any
well its because guys dont compliment them often and they need guys to pay attention. however some just do it cuz they like it and it looks nice to them.
LOL! Bryan! you are right don't know why some girls/women wear so much, they must see how bad it looks when they use the mirror! never worn much make-up at all only ever special occasions really. Think some women are that uncomfortable with themselves wearing make-up to the paint shop factory accident degree!helps them to feel more comfortable with the image they have.
what kinda girls have you been hanging around? well, not everyone has the flair for applying make-up, just like not everyone is a good dresser. sometimes it actually depends on taste, some people like bold and daring, others prefer looking mild and simple. look out for the latter, they'd prolly appeal to you more
I wish I knew the answer, then I could explain to my teenage daughter what not to do!
i dont lol do i look that bad?? some women need war paint and some women more than others love
    lol, i love that saying!!!!!!

i guess some girls feel that covering as much ';nature'; as possible will make them pretty. cuz makeup is like a mask, u basiacally hide behind it.
For all the same reasons, why some men buy expensive cars, and spend multi hours on XBOX 360s.......
Personally, I think that it is nasty! Who wants to see that caked on crap on your face? urgh.
well they only look like that if you dont know how to apply it but i do admit that some of that is true
i guess that's just how some women like to look! i don't!!!

call the dealer, find out what number of your vin code is your paint code i.d #.find that number call dealer for exact color match. How do i know what is the factory paint of my truck?
paint code on the sticker where the door opens. usually drivers side.
Your door sticker will have a paint code. Take this code to any shop that sells auto paint and match it up. That will be the correct color. The code will be something like ';M'; or ';J2'; or something similar.

If your truck is a late model you can go to the dealer and pick up some touch up paint. The paint code is also somewhere on the vehicle, the vin. I believe.
What kind of Truck? A GM truck has it the glove box and starts with WA and then a big space. Ford is door and it says paint code. If is a ford sound like torado red. I can actually mix a paint for you in 1/4 oz container. I have a http://www.paintbull.com system.
There is a paint # in the inside of the door. Auto parts house can locate it for you.

  • I Have A 2006 Dodge Magnum And Would Like To Change The Color, Can You Paint Over Factory Paint?

Or Would U Have 2 Sand it down some.

My Car Is a Greenish/Blueish Color If that means anything.. ThanksI Have A 2006 Dodge Magnum And Would Like To Change The Color, Can You Paint Over Factory Paint?
yes it will have to be sanded down some to do it but it can be done for a price.I Have A 2006 Dodge Magnum And Would Like To Change The Color, Can You Paint Over Factory Paint?
You would have to go over it with a some really fine sand paper, (not down to the metal or anything), just enough to take the gloss out of it. Clean the body thoroughly, all dust and debris. I would put a thin coat of filler primer just so it's perfectly smooth (allow to dry for at least three days), then apply your first coat, let this dry for a week or two (preferably in the sun), then apply a second coat and let it dry for another week. Buffing the new paint after it's cured for a few weeks will give it a nice finish. I would recommend having a pro there with you to guide you through it. Make sure the body is clean and dry between each coat. Dust or moisture will ruin a potentially beautiful paint job.
Yes you can, but I don't recommend it. Covering a factory paint job (if it's in good condition) is a horrible idea because the new paint never looks as great and usually has a lot of problems. I was going to do this with my car that I had bought last year because everyone who has my make/model has the same color. After talking to some people and doing some research, I found it's better to just stick with the original color.
You would most likely have to sand it down and prime it and then paint it.

Everything read on consumer reports should be taken with a grain of salt. They always rate american cars low, and foreign cars high.

I have heard reports of toyota execs owning stock in consumer reports.

And to answer your question, no. But what year is your firebird and what color is it. If it is white and mid nineties than you should chalk it up to bad luck, the primer used in 95 was inadequate in every carmaker.

Its not a medalflake paint job, black factory paint on new truck and?

there are tiny flecks of what appears to be chips imbedded in the clear coat. dealer says that the clear would be taken down so far that there would be swirls and thats the final stage and condition that it would be in.it feels like they dont want to do it right and repaint.what do you think? Its not a medalflake paint job, black factory paint on new truck and?
Contact the manufacturer. In your manual, usually at the back, you'll find a toll free number for customer service. Its not a medalflake paint job, black factory paint on new truck and?
there shouldnt be any swirls in a factory paint job. the clear should have been smooth as glass. if you had this done at a shop then they didnt sand the clear or didnt sand it with the proper grit
I think you got a bad paint job from the factory -- or possibly a vehicle that was damaged in shipment and poorly repaired. The guy with the ';quilt'; paint job almost certainly had a damaged shipper. The dealer needs to put that right -- paint on a new vehicle should be virtually perfect. Some very slight ';orange peel'; effect is common on all but the most expensive cars but it should be nearly undetectable.
sounds like rail dust to me. when a vehicle is shipped via rail, the friction of the wheels on the track creates tiny particles of ';hot dust'; these particles melt into the clear coat causing a flawed finish. this can be corrected by wet sanding the entire vehicle with 1500 grit sand paper, then buffing the vehicle. then the vehicle is buffed with a swirl remover. this is not as easy as it may seem (leaving no swirls) a job like this could take several days, but it is done all the time. this should be covered under warranty if you recently purchased the vehicle! MY SOURCE... I WAS A NEW CAR MANAGER FOR YEARS/ CURRENTLY I AM SELF EMPLOYED GOING TO DEALERSHIPS REPAIRING FACTORY PAINT JOBS AS WELL AS REPAIRING CHIPS AND SCRATCHES ON USED CARS!
Sounds like some crap to me. A new truck should have PERFECT paint. If not, then they need to remedy that. Do not take no for an answer.

  • Will a body shop paint job hold up as well as a factory paint job?

I recently purchased a new Nissan Versa hatchback. There was a scratch about 7 inches long on the hatchback door at the time of purchase. The dealership has offered to send it to a local body shop to repaint the entire door. I've heard horror stories about body shop paint jobs starting to crack and peel within a year or two. I really don't know how deep it is. Am I better off just leaving this scratch or should I get the paint job? Will a body shop paint job hold up as well as a factory paint job?
A good body shop can apply urethane paint that will out last the vehicle. I have seen dozens of cars at auto dismantlers that have been there for years -- you can always tell which ones had quality repairs and paint because those particular panels are still bright and shiny while the rest of the car is falling apart. Will a body shop paint job hold up as well as a factory paint job?
If it is a quality body shop, then I'm sure you are fine to get the paint repaired. Even at the factory they have to repair them every now and then. It may get a piece of dirt on it or it may get scratched by an employee putting on some other part. It happens all the time. good luck.
It should last as long. Depends on the body shop though.

Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?

also, house for most part is vinyl..can this be power washed without damaging? vinyl is about 4years old.house is 9 years old/painted about 5 years ago..is it necessary to put down primer and then 2 coats paint or just 2 coats is enough?(not now in such terrible condition.)Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?
Hello BUBE: concerning the gutters... your asking about repainting %26amp; power washing gutters makes me suspect that actually your gutters are very dirty looking with black streaks running down the sides. If this is the case neither repainting nor power washing is required. Washing or cleaning the gutters with any cleaner found in your home or from your local home supply store may clean very little. A person who does commercial power washing can improve the appearance of the gutters, not by using high pressure, but by injecting a chemical in the water stream of the power washer at low pressure which is fine to do and will not result in any damage. The cause of the black streaks is chemical bonding due to electrostatic forces... ionic bonds between the metal of the gutter and the liquids that have run over the gutters. To remove the black from the gutters the chemical bonding must be broken. This is done with a solution containing a high concentration of butoxyethanol. Using this solution will make white gutters with black streaks SHINE bright white! Follow product instructions, but normally... spray the diluted solution on, wait half a minute, lightly brush and rinse, maybe repeat. The dirt and black will roll of the gutters.. you have to see it to believe it. I have attached two web site links if you would like to review the solution I am describing. Be sure to follow all product safety/usage instructions and requirements while both using and applying the product. I hope this information will be helpful to you.Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?
power wash will not hurt vinyl, use 2500 psi washer or less

eavestrough can be painted, but take all flkes off first use primer, eavestrough can be replaced for about$2.50 a foot or less if you shop around
To add to the answer above--I'd prime the gutters before painting--if you say they're not in such terrible condition and have a factory finish, I doubt you have chipping paint to worry about, but if you do, it has to be removed. A little TSP or TSP-substitute in the washer, followed by a thorough rinse will remove chalking and give the original paint a ';tooth'; that helps primer and new paint stick. Make sure when you're power-washing you don't blow water up under the siding.

Incidentally, a quality paint job by professionals should last a lot longer than 5 years, even in areas with severe weather. If you are having problems with flaking/peeling paint, you probably have underlying moisture problems that need to be addressed before re-painting. Since most of your house is vinyl, you should be able to afford the time and money to fully prep (clean, scrape, sand) the areas you need to paint, and use highest quality primer and top coats (go to a real paint store, eg Sherwin-Williams, Columbia, etc, not HD or Wal-Mart).

they would have to bring the car down to metal and then start from their if their is any body work needed it will drive the cost up dramatically. if you don't need any body work than the cheapest I have sean is like 1,500 to 2,000 and if you need body work than it all depends on how much their is also if you have any body rot or rust on the car this will also make the price go up you have to figure like 100 per door panel if you just have dents and allot more if their is and real damage. like rust or body rot.How much will it cost for a factory OEM resprayed paint job on a Car?
    Depends on the shop.

    I would expect almost $800.

Can I use factory watercolor tube paint as a pigment base for making egg Tempera paint?

Will the Gum Arabic have an adverse affect?

Thanks. Can I use factory watercolor tube paint as a pigment base for making egg Tempera paint?
Possibly yes, but you should experiment a little.

The whole point of making egg tempera is in it's simplicity and purity, the gum arabic and inert fillers in commercially made watercolours could easily degrade or spoil the tempera. Also it would be more difficult to control the proportions of pigment/egg which vary according to colour.

What was the 1996 harley davidson factory custom paint scheme?

There was no one, single factory custom paint scheme. Harley offers several different styles and schemes of custom paint jobs, if you want to pay for it... I believe that back in the 90's you could even order custom painted tins (tank %26amp; fenders) from the factory to replace your original equipment parts.

HELP! How to remove factory paint from iroc rims or is the rim actually gold?

Depending on the year, I believe you have aluminum rims and they are Anodized. If they are anodized forget trying to remove the finish. As far as I know you will leave serious scratch marks.HELP! How to remove factory paint from iroc rims or is the rim actually gold?
Media blasting. Most machine shops or automotive body shops should offer this service is be able to refer you.

If available, blasting with a media other than sand is better because sand can etch the metal. Good alternatives include certain kinds of plastic and in some cases I've seen good results with walnut shells. It just depends on what is available in your area.

du pont chroma base for color. du pont 7900 chroma clear for the shineWhats the best paint (better than factory) to paint my Honda?
In that case go with either Dupont or Limco acrylic enamel both are good but I prefer Dupont myself it lays down smooth without a lot of problems and it does a great job. Some would say PPG is the best but when I was painting cars I always used Dupont. Now having said that I assume you are going to have it done by a professional right? You can do it yourself if you have a spray booth and the right Equipment right? If not then you are going to be less than happy with the results
Whats had better do their very best to be painted through my honda

Car is a Nighthawk black Civic SIHow much would it cost for a factory paint job on a body kit for my car?
I used to work at a busy collision center.

Most collision centers use soft wear for estimating repair and refinish times to charge consumers.

Your body kit will not be represented in the soft wear so an estimate will need to be performed and the shop you choose will need to see the parts to determine labor charges.

Painting is very straight forward, code on the vehicle acts as the formula which the painters use to match the paint.

As you have not listed the items to be painted I'd be taking a guess.

Load up your parts and visit a few shops and be prepared to hear that some shops won't touch custom parts. How much would it cost for a factory paint job on a body kit for my car?
just tell javier that Jorge sent you, and give him a bj. he will give you a good deal.

How to restore (or paint) factory alloy rims?

I have some faded and stained aluminum rims on my Cherokee that are cramping it's style. I find it a bit of a waste of money to go with new rims (the factory ones are not that bad and they have the ';JEEP'; on one of the arms).

So how do I restore them to a nice shiny pretty state?

Alternatively, I may consider painting them (or parts of them). My XJ has the gray/red color scheme; any suggestions?

Thanks! How to restore (or paint) factory alloy rims?
I've got a red S10 and some grungy Z28 wheels (you can see one of them in my avatar). I was thinking of cleaning them up and squirting some black or charcoal paint on them, or maybe a medium silver. Spray cans don't cost too much, so if you don't like one color, it's cheap to try another. DON'T use a drill with a wire brush to clean them up, though.
